Outside of the "customer is always right," the biggest con perpetrated on humanity is that opposites attract.
Let me clarify. They attract, but they don't sustain. The more 2 people have in common, the more they stick together (as a caveat, mentally deranged people are exempt from my assessment.)
My relationship record is nothing to brag about. I have failed in every instance, otherwise I wouldn't be here, now would I? Finding the "right" person must be like winning the lottery. I have been around numerous couples, married or otherwise, and I have only encountered one where you can sit back and say, "They were made for each other." It's hard, damn work to find someone and you can burn a lot of your life away stabbing in the darkness in the hopes of landing that perfect someone.
Excuse me, scratch "perfect" and replace it with "right."
At the risk of belaboring this trite summation of who I am, let me cut to the chase and, very reluctantly, site the characteristics of who I'm looking for (UGH!)
- Someone who is kind.
- Someone (if we get there) whose parents don't hate me.
- Someone who can't imagine life without music.
- Someone who loves animals (and that includes Alligators.)
- Someone who digs books and film.
- Someone who is passionate about anything (except white supremacy and social media.)
- Someone with a sublime sense of humor.
- Someone who leaves a tender moment alone.
- Someone with a fierce need to travel.
- Someone who won't violently attack me when I disagree with them.
- Someone who loves FOOD.
- Someone that can have a good time anywhere.
- Someone who makes me a better person.
- Someone who doesn't need someone else to be happy, but is quick to leave a situation where they don't feel happy.
- Someone who's got my back.
I hated having to write that.
