I Would Describe Myself As
First the bad things. I do smoke (both tobacco and medical marijuana) currently i’m trying to quit.
I drink. Not every day but probably 3 or 4 times a week. I don’t have a favorite cocktail. About twice a year I have a craving for margaritas. When I’m out at the bar I just have beer.After working in the yard on a hot day I like a cold beer or a salty dog. When I travel I try the local bar. Depending on my mood, I might have a scotch and water. Or a rum and coke. If I have fresh strawberries, I might mix up a blender of frozen strawberry daiquiris .During the winter I’ll have a peppermint patty. (peppermint schnapps poured into hot chocolate) I also like to gamble. I budget for a casino trip once a month.
My activities. I won’t call them hobbies, because I spend limited time on them. I like to write. I would write erotic stories to my wife and she loved them. No harsh language, just gentle words, and very descriptive. My son says I’ve had such an interesting life that I should write my biography. So I’m doing that. Since there has been sadness in my life, I find it difficult to write about it, so I put that part off for a while. However, I recently have been able to put parts of my past behind me, so now the writer's block has been removed. I garden, mainly tasty stuff.Apples, strawberries, cherries and raspberries. I enjoy fixing things around the house, but I’m not very good at it.
My past.
I have traveled extensively, mainly for work, but that didn’t stop me from exploring new areas. I have been to approximately 38 states (including Alaska 4 times) . I have also been to Australia for a year. And vacationed in Canada, Mexico and Belize.My favorite place to vacation is Las Vegas. I now winter in Belize. I learned how to scuba dive and dove the shipwrecks in Lake Huron. I took pilots lessons, then stopped (I have a funny story about that)
Two things about me I am proud of. I am persistent, and adventurous. I am not afraid to try new things, new foods, new cultures.
I am a problem solver (trained by my job) if a problem arises, I look at it from all angles, then decide on a course of action. I am not always right. I am spiritual,but don’t believe in organized religion. I am honest. I don’t cheat, lie or steal. However, make sure you really want to hear the answer before you ask it. I enjoy laughter. I believe there is too much sadness and not enough laughter in the world. When faced with a problem (eg surgery) I make jokes about it to hide my fear, I don’t like to argue. I would rather discuss issues. I realize that some issues cannot be resolved so I let it go. I am a romantic, I’m the guy who sends flowers for no reason, calls my partner just to let them know I’m thinking of her. I write little notes to her, then place them where she will find them. While dancing I will sing softly in her ear. If we are doing karaoke, I will publicly dedicate a love song to her.I also believe there is a difference between men and women, and when the masculinity, or femininity is lost, society changes for the worse.I remember one time I was a volunteer blackjack dealer for the kiwanis. I live in a small town so the women would dress up for these events (high heels, dresses. etc) While the guys would just normally wear jeans. I rented a tux for the occasion and my table was filled with women. I would light their cigarette, compliment the hair or eyes, or whatever I could feel sincere about.My table made the most money that night. I will make a pass, but I do understand the word NO. I’m hoping it is no, not now. Not no, not ever. However, even I can run out of patience. I believe all chores can be shared. I can cook, do laundry just as well as she can run the mower or the trimmer. I really like who I am. I don’t expect anyone to change for me, or me to make major changes for them. I enjoy my life, am financially secure (not rich, just comfortable.)
